What did you think of the movie Transformers 2? My opinion: I'd say it's one of the worst films I've seen in a long, long time. WAY too long, and WAY too many action scenes where everyone magically survives and escapes, time and time again. I've never been more bored this much by a film for so long. I read on Wikipedia that it's so far the highest grossing film of 2009, just after Angels and Demons. What the hell?!! Don't people have good taste anymore? This movie sucked.. OK, the special effects were impressive, I'll give you Transformer nerds that. Everything else about it was horsesh!t though. Special effects are only impressive for so long.. It's 2009, we've seen it all before, we want a goddamn good story like the good sci-fi films like the Matrix.

2009 Summer Movie Predictions? It's always interesting to look back at the end of summer and see what worked and what didn't. Last year, who thought the Dark Knight would become the 2nd biggest movie of all time? Everyone was betting on Indiana Jones to be the big hit, but after the coming-from-nowhere Iron Man was released, Indiana Jones was easily forgotten, though it did become a huge hit as well. Also, who though The Love Guru would be a total flop with Mike Myers starring and heavily, heavily promoting on the hugely-watched American Idol finale? This year, however, the box office has seen a huge resurgence, so look for seemingly modest movies to become huge hits as well. For me, the summer movie season gets kicked off this Friday with Wolverine. Will Wolverine be the huge hit everyone is predicting? Well, it’s all according to its value. Word-of-mouth is still- even in the modern 21st century- a major tool that can sway the box office success of a movie (remember Bolt last year?). Wolverine, the highly-anticipated Star Trek that releases May 8th, Angels & Demons, and Terminator Salvation will all have grosses that depend on the word-of-mouth of the public and, to a certain extent, the reviews. However, all with probably suffer money losses due to overcrowding the movie calendar (remember the Spiderman 3-Shrek 3-Pirates 3 all in the same month deal?). After the overall negative reviews of The Da Vinci Code, look for the equally as boring Angels & Demons to suffer the most. On a side note, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past will probably become a successful hit- though definitely not a #1 movie- when it opens alongside Wolverine this Friday. It’s obviously targeting the female demographic who do not wish to see Wolverine and will probably be successful in its attempt due to heavy publicity and the starring role being filled by Matthew McConaughey. Look for Night at the Museum 2 to be a huge hit with families since the first one ended up making a whopping $571,069,550. Disney/Pixar will probably see their 10th hit in Up at the end of May if the reviews are strong; however, Night at the Museum 2 might be a holdover that keeps some of Up’s audience away. June brings Land of the Lost, a Will Ferrell comedy that could go either way. Ferrell has proven himself to be a bankable actor, but will audiences pay to see what will surely be a critics-panned movie? Only time will tell… The Hangover, Imagine That, and The Proposal will also be rather modest successes in June, although June 24th brings Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen, which will not only easily pass the $100-million blockbuster status mark but also probably become the biggest hit of the summer. July rings in with the for-sure animated hit Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs and Public Enemies, the will-it-catch-on? Flick from Johnny Depp. The Disney flick looking to grab families, G-Force, will follow on July 24th, but the big movie of the month will come in the form of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Forget the squabble over whether people will see it because the books are already completed: Everybody already knew the ending of the other 5 before the movies came out, correct? Seeing as the movie is shaping up to be less and less about the “sixth book in the series” and more and more about a real movie with real meaning, look for Prince to be the only true contender to take down Transformers 2 as being the top movie of the summer. The Ugly Truth, They Came from Upstairs, and Funny People will all be modest hits as well, although Judd Apatow might turn Funny People into a hit as he did a few summers ago with Knocked Up. August brings G.I. Joe, Julie & Julia, and Shorts during the first weekend. Look for G.I. Joe to be the #1 movie that weekend, although considering her ride recently with The Devil Wears Prada and Mamma Mia!, Meryl Streep could turn Julie & Julia into another monster hit. Look for Shorts to be as stupid as Robert Rodriguez’s last family movie (The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl) and become a bomb. Other movies, such as Final Destination: Death Trip 3D, will become modest hits, but August probably will not see any blockbuster releases. As I said earlier, it’s always fun to look back on September 1st, and see which predictions were right and wrong. Overall, however, I think the Top 5 movies of the summer will be Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, G.I. Joe, Wolverine, Star Trek, and Night at the Museum 2 (not particularly in that order). Help Finding Shia's Coat From Transformers 2 (Leather)? I JUST got back from seeing Transformers 2, it was good and everything and bla bla bla. I'm really interested in finding a leather coat resembling the one Shia wears in the movie. How racist and sexist is the new Transformers movie? I heard it's ridiculous. There are even subtle criticisms of Obama in the movie. Supposedly, it's blatant.
