Was there ever any transformer action figures made out of die cast metal?

When i was about 5 years old i had a metal transforming fighter jet. I was really old when i got it (1990). I was wondering if it was a Transformer made in japan or one of the robots from Robotech or Macross, and if i could still find one.

    Nowadays, those particular ones, if in good shape, cost about and arm and a leg.

    Bandai has released some new Hi Metal Macross toys, though.
