New DVD player has 2 pin plug.Says 25A/250V. Can I use it ?
I am in the UK and my new DVD player has just arrived . Only problem is that is seems to have a 2 pin plug instead of 3 ! Can I use it in the UK without a transformer ! Should I return the dvd player ?

- I think it says 2.5 A not 25 A , cut off the plug and replace it with a three pin version , replace the fuse in the plug at the same time to a 3 amp as it will probably come with a 13 amp , all will ok
- hi
i have had the same problem the company should of put in a 2to 4 pin adapter bet it was cheap as they sell for uk and european market that why they come with 2 pin with a 4 pin adapter its like a electric shaver adapter 2 to 4 pin plug,go and buy one from wilkinsons no more that a pound or 2 will be quite safe to use or contact the seller and say it came with 2 pin not 4 and can they send a 4 pin adapter.
- Sounds like a US or European plug. We use 240v in the UK. The safest option would be to buy a converter (only £1 or so) and use it.
You could return the DVD player on the grounds that it is not suitable for use in the UK. Pixmania have been using this tactic for years, but they supplied an converter plug which made the product suitable in the UK.
- 25a is a lot! mine only uses 1.5a! you can use an adapter (not a shaver adapter as they only have a 1a fuse) or cut the plug off and fit a uk 3 pin plug. connect the N and L terminals, it doesn't matter which way round as its ac power.
- You'd be better off getting one of these, they convert 2 pin plug to 3 pin(UK)plug. If it then don't work, then at least you haven't damaged the flex by cutting off 2 pin plug and putting on 3 pin plug.
