Shouldn't the Transformers toys for the movie been made out of metal instead of Plastic?!!?
I mean come on how cheap can the manufacturer be. Most Transformers or at least the Classics were made from metal and not cheapo Plastic that breaks easily. What's Safety got to do with it? I've heard of more kids swallowing stuff made from Plastic. Like the Infamous story "My son crammed a lego up his nose", that alot of Emergency room doctors have to deal with.

- times have change...more ppl sue nowadays.
- health hazards; little kids put things in their mouth.
- Well maybe they were focusing more about the safety of the children that are going to be playing with them then making you happy!
- First, I would have liked to see better designs. As an old "gee-oner," I'm not enamored of most of the Transformers movie toys, Starscream and Megatron, in particular. However, I read the Optimus Prime toy made for the Japanese market by Takara will include some die-cast metal. Still, it's a shame that so many toys nowadays contain virtually no metal parts save the screws that hold them together. Of course, if you want metal Transformers (and you can afford them), your best bet is to buy the Binaltech Transformers from Takara, which are reincarnations (wholesale reinventions in many cases) of some of the figures from G1. I proudly own several.
- YES YES YES
Plastic robots? How tacky!!
It is unfortunate that today's toys are so poorly made! And a note on safety, plastic is far more dangerous than metal!
- I really dont have an answer to your question but I agree that Transformers should be made out of metal. Maybe it costs less and easier to manufacture if it is plastic. How I miss those metalic robot toys for transformers, voltron, voltes V etc.
- You need to revisit your toy collection, I have most of the 1984 Transformers and there was a lot of plastic used.
I do miss my original metal Prime (cry)
But I do agree with you, they do use way more plastic then they use to and I cannot stand it. Everyone is looking to save a few bucks to make more profit, and I have read that there are a lot of quality problems with the new toys.
