Transformers Movie Info

Why are predacons in the Transformers movie?

For example Scorponok and Rampage. It's weird seeing some names from Beast Wars show up in the movie, I heard even Depth Charge is in the movie as a gunboat. Didn't they only exist during the timeline of beast wars? Or are we seeing younger versions of them, which I doubt. I'm assuming the director/producer just slapped the name on with disregard to their origin.

1. I'm pretty sure Blackarachnia was in T:2 but I can't be sure, too.

   No idea why.
