Transformers Movie Info

I have two questions on the fantasy world & the real world?

These questions are very important to me, so please try to give as genuine answers as you possibly can as they also relate to me. Plus, I recently heard on the news that many people lately have been experiencing feelings of depression, fear, lonliness, etc after seeing a character they love from a movie/TV show being killed off or hurt. Health experts say such scenes in shows are very bad for people's health, but I digress. On with the questions... 1: Why do so many people (sometimes including myself) care more about a fantasy/imagination world than the real world? 2: If your favourite character in a movie/TV show became hurt, was killed or died, even though you know it's not real & it's all just pretend, why does the human brain sometimes confuse the fantasy world to the real world? Look what happened to the kids in 1986 when they witnessed the death of Optimus Prime in the animated Transformers movie. Optimus isn't real, yet so many cried for him. Thank you.

  1. They get attached to the drama and the idea of what could ov been.

  2. 1. we have control over a fantasy world, very little control in the real world. it's escapism.

    2. I don't know these characters.

  3. 1. So they can escape from their real problems, and do whatever they want.

    2. Because we come so attatched to the show that we think that they were like a friend, and therefore have feelings for them.

  4. 1. A fantastic world leaves room to let yourself believe that literally anything is possible. The more your mind can wonder, the more you feel like you could quite possibly see that enigmatic figment in reality... you wish you could really experience it.

    2. Similar to my answer to the first question. Although the second question doesn't really make sense.

    3. Well, people cry during movies and T.V. shows all of the time. It's an element of art called mood. Cinematic art does use mood... quite often.

  5. The connection between the death of a fantasy character and feelings of depression, fear, and loneliness also correlate with many subjects in question being generally anti - social, introverted, and technology dependent.

  6. We watch movies or TV to relate to a character. The studios know this and use it ,if you can relate to a character in the story then you are drawn into the story. This is our escape from reality we watch these things to get away from whats going on in our real lives, but it is hard to separate completely. One of my favorite movies is The Departed because of the story of course but also cuz I could relate to DiCaprio's character. I remember my jaw dropped when he got shot in the end I was in disbelief. Children have an even harder time separating reality from non. Thank God we have movie ratings.

  7. q1.

because the people can relate to the fictional caracter. the characterscould be their hero, or they love the character

    q 2.

because they get attached to the character. the little children do not know what is real and what isn't. You feel sad for them, like you would for anyone who you liked,

    hoped it helps

  8. Haven't you seen the imagination land episode of south park at the end kyle does his little moral of the story speech and says that even though its imaginary the fact that it impacts so many of our lives is enough to make it real. So even if it seems like it doesn't exist it does in some sense because someone made it and it becomes dear to the people who watch it, to them these characters are real even if we know they are not.

  9. 1: Why do so many people care more about a fantasy/imagination world than the real world?

I dont know that they care more. They just care, because they can relate how that person must feel. Its about experiences someone else's feelings, without living it perse'. Emotional entertainment. Sometimes the real world leaves you emotionless. It can be quite cold, at times.

People like to experience things like the drama of real romance. The drama of someone else's situation

2: Why does the human brain sometimes confuse the fantasy world to the real world?

Does it confuse the two ? Or does it receive it all as real ? I think it receives it all as real.

Part of the reason people have become buffered to killing and hurtful behavior. Theyve seen it all before...1000's of times.

  10. Even though your rational adult self understands the difference between reality and fantasy, the subconscious attraction to certain themes, archetypes, characters in movies and tv is just that... subconscious. The brain is processing the emotion of the event on tv as though it is happening in reality. If we didn't confuse the emotions of reality with fantasy, no one would ever bother to make movies!

As for why people care more about fantasy than reality, it could be for a variety of reasons. Depression and loneliness can drive people further into obsessing over fantasy. It can also simply be a means to escape reality, which for most people, isn't all that exciting.

  11. Alright, the following answers are totally my opinion and I'm not a psychologist or anything so dont expect them to be very good.

I think the reason people care more about fantasy than real life is because in fantasies you can be whoever or whatever you want to be. In a fantasy world you can be happy and content with your life, and real life is frustrating and hard at times. So people get wrapped up in fantasies because they make them feel happy and provide an escape from the pressures of real life.

And I can understand the people who cry for tv and movie characters. When someone watches a movie or tv and the movie or tv show develops a character, they feel like you get to know them. If the character is likable, a person may start to relate to that person or feel like the person is they're friend. They watch the character and despite the fact that they aren't real, get to know them so well that they think of them as a real person or whatever they are. So when the character dies, it's like watching someone you've got to know and like, maybe even become friends with, die. It's very sad.

Sorry for providing such crappy answers, but this how I interpret it. It makes more sense in my head and it's hard to put into words.
